Chanel No. 5, the most sold scent ever created by a woman, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, the company has decided to bring the history of the perfume to life.
The Chanel House and artist Es Devlin are putting together a public art installation in the Miami Design District that’ll walk you through the legacy and cultural significance of this iconic scent. Titled “FIVE ECHOES”, the installation will feature a labyrinth surrounded by greenery inspired by the original 20 plants that formed the base of the fragrance.
Relating to the installation name, the public will engage and activate their five senses as they maneuver their way through the labyrinth’s five concentric pathways. I don’t want to give too much away, but every inch of this interactive installation speaks to a moment in Chanel No. 5’s time, from production to dissemination.
Opening in Miami Art Week, FIVE ECHOES is free to the public and is running from November 30th to December 21st.
